Enable or disable the feature in Microsoft Outlook 2016 that automatically saves your email messages to the Drafts folder. You may like to have this turned on if you want to be able to recover messages that were lost while composing them. Oct 10, 2016 - Hi, One of our clients use Outlook for Mac 2011, when trying to view their Drafts folder, it still just shows the Inbox. Other folders such as Deleted.

I have a MacBook Pro, all OS and updates installed and use the Mac Mail client, in which I consolidate various email accounts from Hotmail (now Outlook), Yahoo, Gmail and InBox. On Sunday night, I pulled an 'all nighted' from 11pm to 8am to complete a long document, which was centered on an email, with about 3 pages of text, and with various type of attachments brought in from OpenOffice. I was religious about saving the draft every 30 minutes or so, and did the last time at just after 8am, went to shower and went off to work with the lid shut on my Mac, but al the apps open as always.
Well, I get to the office, open the Mac, type in the screensaver password, and OMG, there was no draft email saved! I looked all through the folders and files - not there. I searched for it by name and by string (of text in the mail body) - not there. I checked all the mail accounts on the web log in's (i.e. Not in the Mail client) no nothing. I took the machine to the Genius bar at downtown store in SF - not much help - young girl gave me a power supply to borrow, suggested I look through the apps directories, and left, not to return.

I looked around for about an hour and even asked some other Mac users there for thoughts, but to no avail. I asked another Genius bar person today at another Mac store - no help either. Has anyone else had this issue? The Mac client just does not seem to save the draft when you lock the machine. You can click on the icon, and it looks like it's saving it in the Drafts folder, but lock the screensaver and then come back in and it's not there. Any help or ideas much appreciated.
Closed outlook and ran the command 'outlook /resetfolders' should solve your issue. If this issue persists, we should consider to restore draft folder by the following steps: 1.
Open your Outlook account. Locate the 'File' button on the horizontal menu panel, located in the upper left corner of the Outlook window.
Select the 'Import and Export' option in the File menu. A pop-up window will open. Look for the 'Import from another program or file' button and click it. Click 'Next' to continue the restoring folder process. Select the.pst file option, which means Personal Folder File. Click 'Next' to continue. Click 'Browse' to locate the Drafts folder.
The folders will be stored where the Outlook files are located, which is usually on the C-drive, unless you have manually stored them elsewhere. The location is the location you chose when you were installing Outlook. Select the Drafts folder and click 'OK.' Check off the 'Replace duplicates with items imported' to make sure the files in the folder are not duplicated in your email account.
Click 'Next' and 'Finish' to complete the restoration process.
